London Marathon is the most popular marathon on the planet with a world record of more than 450,000 people applying for a place through the ballot. This year we had 6 athletes in Team L'Arche: Ben, Lucy, Charlotte, LC, Jon & Henry. Collectively, they have raised over £20,000 - a massive contribution towards enabling people with learning disability to lead a full and vibrant life in their Community.

One runner, Lucy, stuck with us when the 2020 race she signed up for was cancelled, continuing to train and fundraise for 2 years, until she finally took to the streets of London last week in the name of L’Arche. She has brought so much joy to the team and has raised a staggering £3,053. This is what she had to share:

Training for my first marathon was fantastic with L’Arche – they supported me in such a personal way every step of the way, and raising the funds was easy once people became aware of how amazing the cause is and the incredible things they achieve! Thank you L’Arche!

Another runner, Ben, has raised an incredible amount of £4,795! He is most thankful to donors who have been exceptionally generous in supporting and recognising the rare value that L'Arche brings to the world. Here are some of Ben's thoughts:

Running the London Marathon as part of Team L'Arche has been a highlight, not just of this year, but of my life. To participate in this particular event is on every runner's "bucket list", and to do so on behalf of L'Arche is so, so special.

We are extremely proud of all of the runners in Team L'Arche who have worked incredibly hard to achieve something extraordinary! London Marathon was created to show how the human family can be united and ‘have fun and provide some happiness and a sense of achievement in a troubled world’. That is more important this year than ever before.
