Live-In Assistants at L'Arche Do you need a break from the status quo? This is your chance to make a real difference and help support, befriend and share life with people in one of the most marginalised groups in our society. Living in a L’Arche Community, you’ll not only learn transferable skills and participate in an integrated training and personal development programme – you'll also be given space to reflect, grow and transform your whole life. What's involved? As a Live In Assistant in a L’Arche Community, you will be supporting people with learning disabilities. Along with one or two other assistants, you will most likely live with a small number of people with learning disabilities in their home. You will be provided with full board and lodging within our communities, as well as a monthly allowance. Much of what’s required from Live-In Assistants is simply being present in community with our Core Members (residents with Learning Disabilities). Being part of the L’Arche family involves some hard work and resilience, as well as lots of joy, fun and laughter. But why take our word for it? Watch some of our assistants talk about their roles here: More assistants' stories Who can apply? You can! So long as you already have the right to live and work in the UK. You don’t need previous experience in a care setting to apply to L’Arche – we just ask that you are friendly, inquisitive, empathetic and committed. The rest we’ll train you on.
