At the heart of our Community is the support we provide to people with learning disabilities, our “core members”. We have a long history of working with social services and social work departments, health authorities, regulatory authorities, housing associations and others, to provide high quality support that is recognised as being truly responsive to people with learning disabilities.

In L’Arche Edinburgh, we support people in three supported living homes, as well as four others who live in their own flats in a shared apartment block. With our support, people are able to get out and about in the local community, attending music sessions, football training, church services, films, cafes and restaurants, to name but a few.

On Mondays we also run our own very popular weekly art group, which concludes with a lunch. Our office is a hub where community members can pop in, have a chat and a coffee, meet Fen the therapy dog, or feed the fish in our aquarium.

Meet Ol'ha and her son Lubomyr. They left their home in Kyiv, after the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022. Following an extraordinary journey across Europe, they made their home in Edinburgh, and found fellowship and community with L'Arche.
