Preston is in the north west of England, the administrative centre of Lancashire, main campus of the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), and home Preston North End FC (PNE), a founder member of the Football League and the first English Football Champions!

L’Arche Preston is only a few hundred yards from PNE, by the side of Moor Park to the north of the city. We are close by the M6 and M55 motorways, so we are within an hour of the Lake District (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) and North Yorkshire Dales National Parks, but also have the west coast on our doorstep with Blackpool, Lytham St Annes and its world-renowned golf courses, and then easy access to Manchester and Liverpool with their thriving theatres, galleries and museums.

Our community includes around 12 people with learning disabilities, who we support in 2 houses, as well as volunteers, friends, neighbours and L’Arche assistants. Some of the people we support choose to live in their own flat, whilst others share their home with other people who have a learning disability and also with L'Arche assistants.

Here at L’Arche Preston we encourage and support a wide range of activities which reflect the needs and interests of the people with learning disabilities. For instance we have a weekly arts and crafts session where lots of people come together to craft, and then to also enjoy a bowl of soup...hence the name SouperCraft!

In 2023 we celebrated our 25th anniversary, and since becoming established, we have developed links with our neighbours, local churches and other community groups, and actively participate in local community festivals and gatherings.

Take a look at our stories to meet some of the people in our Community.
