Hay festival is a literary festival held in the book town of Hay-on-Wye on the edge of the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park, this year’s programme launched the best new fiction and non-fiction books, while offering insights and debate around significant global issues, world class comedy and music, and a vibrant programme of pop-up events, workshops, and activities for all ages and diverse stalls. Hay festival has thousands of people attend over the 11 days of events as well as online.

Rebound Books, a workshop run by L'Arche Brecon where unwanted books are turned into treasured items, had a stall for the second year running. As part of having a stall, L'Arche also gets to sponsor an event. This year we sponsored Simon Armitage Poet Laureate and we won a Bronze award for Sustainability

People with learning disability, the rebound staff team, workshop members and volunteers came along during the whole event and were involved with selling our upcycled journals, cards, notepads, bookmarks as well as decoupage packs. Everyone was proud to be involved.

We were received so well by the public for the beautiful products whilst being unique and an environmentally ethical product, some having seen us last year came back for books this year.

We believe that this event matches perfectly with our ethos of supporting local events, promoting L'Arche to the wider community and showcasing the talents of our members in a wider context.
