In L’Arche, the support we offer starts in one of our Communities. That’s because we are about making sure the people we support are surrounded by friends who look out for them, as well as by Assistants who are employed to support them.
L’Arche Communities are all located in small towns or neighbourhoods in cities. They include people who have a learning disability, support assistants, volunteers and live-ins, as well as families, friends and neighbours.
If you are an adult with a learning disability, or a family member or friend, the best way to apply for support from a L’Arche Community is to click the link further down the page. You will be invited to fill in a short online form, which will be sent to the L’Arche Community you are interested in.
Then you’ll be contacted by the person responsible for care and support in the Community. They will ask you about the support you are looking for and discuss what support we can offer. If you want to be supported by L’Arche, you will probably need funding. This is something you will discuss as well.
If you like, you can come and meet them and visit the Community – either on your own, with your family or a friend.
