During the week, L’Arche London runs a wide-ranging programme of day activities across two sites in West Norwood. People with learning disabilities living in or outside of L’Arche join us to develop daily living skills, build relationships, explore their creativity and have fun. We also take day trips to other cultural and outdoor spaces throughout the year such as the Royal Academy of Arts, Horniman Museum, the Barbican, South London Botanical Institute and Richmond Park.

We are passionate about delivering opportunities with those we support and encouraging people to grow in confidence and achieve their goals. Contact Stacey Evans to make enquiries or arrange a taster session.

Craft Shop

Based on Norwood High Street, our craft shop is our hub of creativity. People take part in group and individual art projects inspired by artists and nature that are exhibited in our window display or locally in other spaces. Connected to our shop, people make beautiful products such as handmade cards, candles, mosaics, embroidered bags and much more. We also keep active with musical fitness, karaoke and drumming sessions as well as relaxing with colouring, games and puzzles.

Garden Workshop

Our large community garden is where we support people to experience the life-cycle of nature to grow and harvest fruit, vegetables and flowers. We sell some of our produce locally, share it with our community houses, as well as using it to bake and cook in our garden kitchen. Our storytelling, drumming session, arts and crafts take place in our garden room throughout the week.  The garden room is also the home of our talented drama group – this group create scripts, costumes, props and rehearse for our productions.  The drama group has brought their performances to Churches, Theatres and Conferences across London and the UK.

Events

Members of L'Arche run events throughout the year for our local community. We run evening seasonal taster sessions in both our craft and garden workshop to make candles, wreaths, mosaics and much more. We also run sessions for families during the school holidays, and occasionally during Feast, including card-making, designing decorations and terrarium building. More recently, thanks to funding from the Beckenham Theatre Trust, we deliver drama sessions for families, in partnership with the South London Theatre Youth.
