Are you looking for a career change? Or are you already a trained carer, looking for work with more purpose, community and relationship in it?
If you answer yes to these questions, becoming a L’Arche Assistant might just be the opportunity for you!
L’Arche Assistants work in a team providing professional care and support in care homes, supported living and day services.
They deliver regulated personal and person-centred care and support to people with learning disabilities, promoting choice, independence and self-determination. And they support people with disabilities in activities outside the home, developing friendships, and participating in community life.
But more than that, when you work as an Assistant in L’Arche you’re also becoming part of a Community yourself.
That means building relationships that are mutual, not one-sided. Not just supporting someone with disabilities, but treating the person you’re supporting as a friend; not just making a difference in someone else’s life, but sharing something of your own as well.
Being a L’Arche assistant means doing support work differently, together with people who have a learning disability. Read our Assistants' stories to find out more and watch the video below to see what L’Arche Assistants love about their work.
