Job title: Support Worker

Reports to: Locality Leader

Hours of work: Full-time, part-time and night shifts available

Salary: £20,841 per annum rising to £21,216 per annum (pro-rata); £10.02 per hour for Bank Assistants; sleepover payment £64.89 per night

Place of work: L’Arche Kent Community House, Canterbury

Main purpose of the role: As a support worker you will support people with learning disabilities living in a variety of settings, in line with agreed support and care plans, in all aspects of their everyday lives. You will deliver practical, physical and emotional support to people with learning disabilities, whilst proactively promoting choice, independence and self-determination.

Main responsibilities of the role:

  • Provide high quality support to people with learning disabilities in line with L’Arche values, policies and procedures, Reach Standards in supported living and the requirements of the Care Quality Commission [CQC];
  • Facilitate individuals to meet their leisure, social, practical and spiritual needs and promote their ongoing development of independence;
  • Assist with household maintenance, including shopping, cooking cleaning and laundry;
  • Work as one of a team;
  • Be responsible for clear communication with professionals, families of people whom L’Arche support, advocates, neighbours, visitors and other members of L’Arche who are in contact with the house;
  • Attend training and formation courses as applicable to this community role;
