As a live-in assistant with L’Arche, you will experience community life and build deep relationships with people with learning disabilities.

Along with other assistants, you will most likely live with a small number of people with learning disabilities in their own home. You will work a fixed number of hours each week, which may include a waking night.

The below application form will ask you which Community you would like to join. You are given three choices. If there are no vacancies within those Communities, we will send your application to the Community that needs you most.

The Youth Mobility Scheme (Tier 5 visa)

L’Arche welcomes people from all around the world, and those requiring a visa to join us from overseas can apply for the Tier Temporary Worker – Charity Worker visa to join us as live-in assistants for 12 months.

Young people from some countries also have the option of applying for a visa through the Youth Mobility scheme to join us for 24 months. The youth mobility scheme is for young people (18-30) from certain countries and territories who want to come and experience life in the UK. Each year, the UK government allocates a specific number of places for each country and territory. The Tier 5 visa allows young people from the listed countries entry to live and work in the UK for up to two years.
