Like so many charities, L’Arche has been hugely impacted by CoVID-19. Although our support assistants are on the front line of the pandemic, looking after some of the most vulnerable adults in the country, and often living with them under one roof, we are losing valuable income at a time we need it most. We depend on events like Sunday’s London Marathon, which have either been postponed or cancelled.

To “Save Our Charities”, the organisers of the London Marathon are challenging supporters to hold their own fundraising activity in aid of their favourite charity. On Sunday 26th April, the date of the postponed London Marathon, please join the 2.6 Challenge and become a stay at home hero for L’Arche.

WHAT IS THE 2.6 CHALLENGE?

It’s “simples!!”: dream up a challenge around the number 2.6. or 26:

  • 26 laps around the garden
  • 26 star jumps
  • Learn 26 words in a new language
  • A virtual quiz for 26 people with 26 questions

Just let your imagination fly!

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?

  1. Decide on what to do (see below for more ideas)
  2. Set up your fundraising page or make a £26 donation or whatever you can afford to L’Arche 
  3. Share your challenge with your friends and family and ask them to sponsor you via your fundraising page or even challenge them to do their own?!
  4. Complete your challenge
  5. Send any photos/videos of your challenge to [email protected] and share on social media.

SETTING UP YOUR FUNDRAISING PAGE

  • The link will take you to the Just Giving ‘Calling all Home Heroes’ page. Click on FUNDRAISE
  • Then click on Connect to Justgiving - if you are new to JustGiving you will need to add your email and create a password
  • Then choose the charity you want to do your 2.6 challenge for - L’Arche should be top of the list!

  • Sing your favourite songs for 26 minutes non stop
  • Read 26 books in 26 days
  • Complete 26 puzzles
  • Bake 26 different cakes!
  • Walk, jog, crawl for 2.6 kilometres
  • Skip for 26 minutes
  • Plank for 2.6 minutes
  • Taste test- challenge yourself to guess 26 foods blindfold!
  • Juggling for 26 minutes
  • Trampoline for 2.6 hours!
  • 2.6 hours of a family egg and spoon race!
  • Live stream 26 Karaoke songs!
