In 2016, the L'Arche Ipswich Community identified a building that could provide the skeleton for a longed-for courtyard project. With the help of charitable trusts and foundations, and some generous local donors, the Community was able to raise enough money to buy the building. L'Arche Ipswich is now working to develop a refurbishment scheme of one-bed and studio flats for 10 people with varying disabilities and six assistants. The scheme, which will also include communal facilities, is designed to enable people to find a good balance of personal and shared life, within a flexible and future-proofed model. Once the design is finalised, a further fundraising campaign will be launched for the redevelopment of the site.
