At the heart of our Community is the support we provide to people with learning disabilities. We have a long history of working with social services and social work departments, health authorities, primary care trusts, registration and regulatory authorities, housing associations and others, to provide high quality support that is recognised as being truly responsive to people with learning disabilities.

In L’Arche Kent, we support people in five supported living homes, as well as several other people with learning disabilities living in their own apartments. We also run two family-sized homes, where four to six people with learning disabilities and three to four L'Arche assistants live together as one household.

We also have a wide-ranging programme of activities, which is open to people with disabilities living in or outside L’Arche, and we work with individuals to access employment and voluntary opportunities.

Our activities programme is sensitive to people’s desires and motivation and happens flexibly rather than being strictly location specific and limited to daytime hours. We do have a city centre activities space and a large riverside horticulture hub that are used for beer and craft making, woodwork, horticulture and beekeeping.
