Become a Friend of L'Arche Kent

We all need friends. Friends help us to understand better who we are and why we’re important to the world.

In a world which places such value on outcomes, boundaries and the pursuit of independence, L'Arche has a particular call to stand in the difficult place between the world of statutory services and the world of communities of faith.

In these times of austerity, the state can only provide the bare minimum of funding to keep people with learning disabilities safe and secure.

More than ever, L'Arche has to look to donations to fund the programmes and initiatives that form assistants and volunteers.

Initiatives such as assistant and leadership formation, community gatherings, retreats and reflection days for people with learning disabilities and assistants, community holidays all fall outside of the remit of local authority funding — yet each of these in part contributes to the formation of assistants, people with learning disabilities and the community as a whole.

Friends Of L'Arche Kent financially support the community to ensure the formation of its members remains central to its Mission.

Friends Of L'Arche Kent ensure that each member, with or without learning disabilities, employed or not employed, has an opportunity to learn, experience, reflect and live an experience of L'Arche which has relationship and transformation at its centre and thereby to be a living sign of peace to the world.

Friends of L'Arche Kent donate or fundraise for the community to ensure that today’s generation in L'Arche help to build tomorrow’s peace in the world.
